Inter-Generational Collaboration with the Dorot Senior Center

This July we piloted an inter-generational workshop at Dorot which brought teens and seniors together to share their stories.

Professional actors: Susan Gordon-Clark (FYV Participating Artist), David Newer, Maxine Prescott (FYV Participating Artist), Shyaporn Theerakulstit, lent their talent to the final presentation, under the direction of Natasha Marco, Assistant Director, FYV.  It was followed by a lively discussion – the audience was moved by the work, and amazed that the participants had completed their plays in only 5 sessions.

“It was a whole different perspective to be able to hear the thoughts of someone older.”

- Eli Hanft (teen)

“We learned a lot from them; there’s something about their freshness, they don’t have to ‘un-learn’ like we do.”

- Natalie Weicman (senior)

“It was so interesting to encounter an experience I haven’t had in life yet, and to learn about it from someone, before I have it.”

- Noraida Colon (teen)

“The guiding principle of the workshop was to find and resolve conflict; I had to keep hearing each character’s point of view. I learned a lot.”

- Roz Darzy (senior)
