Private sessions can be arranged with Gail Noppe-Brandon, LMSW and Narrative Coach, either in-person or via Skype. Like the FYV workshops, these sessions focus on articulating and reframing the client’s story, through the use of deep questioning and exploration of key phrases from the client’s own account. This approach can unlock the underlying issues which cause clients to be ‘stuck’ far more quickly than more traditional therapeutic alternatives.
The focus of the work is on revising the way clients perceive their own story, and on creating the possibility for revision in their own lives. Some in and between-session writing or text-play, may augment the work.
This approach is beneficial to people across the lifespan, particularly those at points of great transition; adolescents transitioning to adulthood, college graduates entering the work world, newlyweds, new parents, empty nesters, retirees, those experiencing the loss of a loved one, a relationship or a job, after the diagnosis of a disease, etc. In sum, any challenge that results in a shift of identity.
The method is effective for persistent social phobias, depression, aging, emotion regulation issues and special learning needs, and has a long and successful track record with those who suffer shyness, poor attention span, low self-esteem, emotional giftedness, and blocks to creativity or expression*.
